“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous 2 our liberties than standing armies. If the American ppl ever allow private banks 2 control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks & corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the ppl of all property till their children wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should b taken from the banks & restored 2 the ppl, 2 whom it prprly belongs."

Thunder in the valley .

What started out as a crappy rainy day turned in to a shootfest.Seven buddy's 20 long guns 13 assorted pistols.Enough ammo for several firefights.Good times for all involved. One buddy's family has acreage in the boonies with some bottoms with pretty high hills around.Found out Psl-54 is a real shooter and my ar is too.My Ak is now running smoothly but kicks like a damn mule. Both buddy's had Sks recoil not nearly as bad.Other Ak in group not as bad.Hell my Psl Dragunov knockoff in 7.62x54r doesn't kick as hard. One buddy thought I was being a wuss till he bruised his shoulder on 30 rounds. He was almost bleeding.

We broke in a new little shooter he's about 7 or 8 he got to shoot Springfield .22 singleshot bolt and Ruger Single six the boy was smiling like it was Christmas.Oh yeah he fired one round from Ar.We weren't sure if recoil would be to much.He begged to shoot sniper gun as he called it.He only tried it once. Nothing stupid like 12ga.I see a lot of people letting kids, women or first time shooters shoot something to big and brutal recoil turns them off of shooting.Stupid in my opinion.

I hope everybody has a great weekend!

  1. Outstanding China sounds like everyone had a blast. Also it is always a good day when you can get someone new into the sport I am sure the boy had a time to remember.

  3. Hey Scott!I think good time was had by all for sure. And we got an invite from the buddy's family who owns it to come back and shoot and cook out.Sounds like more fun on the horizon.Little guy has played a ton of video games so he is big on sniper guns, doesn't really know what they are,but likes them.Possibly only kid in first grade who has shoot a scoped AR-15?Take care Bro!

  4. Hi Jim!Yes Sir I think you are right. It is amazing the amount of adults with really poor etiquette on the shooting range.Covering someone as sweep around, pointing at people while clearing a jam, etc. I don't like to boss people around but I have no patience for that kind of stuff. We had him wearing eye and ear protection,we explained that shooting is great fun but yet dangerous if done improperly. Personally I think if more kids shoot there would be less accidental shootings. They would be trained in safe handling and it would take away the Oh look a gun factor.

  5. Always good to bring forth the thunder.

Standard Ak's are just too light for my taste, not enough weight to absorb the recoil. My Yugo under folder takes two men and a boy to carry, but has hardly any kick at all, I call it heavy metal. After getting used to my Yugo, I couldn't believe how light standard AK's are, feels like damned toys ;-)

7.62x54 can bruise your shoulder big time. My M44 kicks like a damned mule, my customized M91/30 has little kick with an ATI Monte Carlo stock. Heresy to some, but I love to do my own things with my own weapons. I can shoot all day with the M91/30 and not feel a thing in the old shoulder.

First time shooters should stick with small calibers for sure.

  6. Hey Sunfighter!Yeah my Ak is brutal.Looking into stiffer spring and a good buffer.I am going to customize my Nagant too.It is mine.If they want theirs stock more power to them.I look stuff that works!Besides new stock I will be scoping it too.Haven't yet decided on Scout mount.Or bent bolt and regular mount.Good hearing from you!

  7. On the Mosin, check carefully before going with the bent bolt. Heard some bad things about some of them, research it carefully I'd suggest. Look for the best you can get. I went with the long eye relief, easier to load and uses the original bolt.

Getting the right scope mount is a not easy, I am not 100% happy with mine, it's good enough, but. The ATI stock is awesome, the object being to save the shoulder, not playing macho man. It's hard to shoot good when your shoulder hurts like hell.

Just things to think on old friend.

  8. Welcome the tyke to the world of shooters for me, China- always a wonderful joy to have new blood to protect the country.
On recoil: dang, was I ever surprised at the recoil of my SKS in standard configuration. Being such a small cartidge, I anticipated moderate recoil- 30-30 or less. UGH! kicked as bad as the 30-06. I also went with ATI stock and put a muzzle brake on it, it's at least painless now. Still, got to do something about that trigger. Too much like draggin' a mule thru a mudhole.

  9. Sunfighter,Thanks for info! Yeah I've been looking for a while.I was thinkin (oh horrors) say the purist of actually making it fit the definition of scout rifle.Shortening and lightening a bit not to light weight soaks up recoil.Still thinking.Budget watching too!
