I am looking for a really good hand powered grain grinder. I have been looking into Corona brand as they reasonable. However reports on them range from great to pure junk. I would like something in the Corona price range. As many know I subscribe to Bisons something is better than nothing plan, but at this time I would like to upgrade a little in this area.HELP if you have experience with Corona or another reasonable priced grinder fill me in.Thanks!
By the way if you haven't stopped by Bacon and eggs recently, you should.SciFiChick has great food storage plan. One years worth of food for $300 sounds like a plan. Check her out!

Thanks for the shout-out. I wish I could help with the grain mill but the one (grainmaster) that I have had my eye on has increased their price to double what it was.
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome! It seems everything is going up.Powered ones everyone seems to have an opinion, but hand powered not so much.

ReplyDelete1968 I bought a Corona corn mill, have ground very little wheat and use it to grind dried beans, dried corn and dried meat chunks. I have only had it forty three years. I don't know how long they last. I also have another Corona, a Universal and a Country Living Mill. If you can't buy a corn mill before SHTF don't worry. Have your wife harvest the dried corn and bring it to me. I will ask only 1/4 of the corn to allow her to use my corn mill. (Or you could get off your butt right now and buy two or more corn mills.)
Thanks Vlad see thats the thing I keep hearing ok for corn not so good on wheat.Guess I'll keep looking.

Off topic but I'm really trying to find out what has happened to all the .gov sites. Epa and Noaa are down as well as social security. Anything with a dot gov address isn't working today. I tried to check out the fallout info on epa. and Noaa. and they are all off the air. Just wondering if others are having the same problem?

China, I care what happens to you and yours. A good woman will kill to protect her kids. She will do anything to feed them. I told my wife that the stored food is so our kids will never go hungry. The guns are to protect food and family.
ReplyDeletePlease consider buying an affordable Corona or Universal mill today. In the words of Forrest Gump IT HAPPENS. If the ass falls suddenly out of civilization a Corona will be better than two rocks.
Who in Japan knew the tsunami was gonna be 30 feet high? I carry a Bushranger XJack in my suburban 24/7 because I do not know when a tire will go flat. When you need help good samaritans stop to help you. Predators stop to help themselves.
Vlad,Thanks Bro! I guess I better that if I find something better upgrade along the way.If not I have something.Good point.

China; we own and use a Corona mill now for 3 years. Yes great on corn but guess what...same for wheat berries, may have to sift thru it a few times to get it 85% ground up for whole wheat flour with 15% hulls left over from final sifting bulk fiber will be left over to add to your bake goods (breads and muffins) and believe it or not what the grain mills throw away you will surely feel better with the new texture breads. will be like old days of hearty crusted bread and hand cut slices of bread. Hope we have been helpful.
ReplyDeletePalerider,Hah I was just thinking about you.Yes indeed very helpful.Between you and Vlad I will purchase a Corona after all.I hope all is well.Take care Bro!
